How
I became The Free Wit.
And built a party planning
website.
I
do enjoy a good party. To me a “good party” is when good friends
get together, and enjoy doing things together. Whether it is
playing games, having a discussion, or simply watching a movie. I
enjoy simple friendship and the fellowship that comes with making new
friends and building old friendships.
Along with some other events in my life, I decided
to put together a
website that would help other people plan those “lets do this
again” type parties. When someone says “lets do this again sometime”
you know you had a successful party. I enjoy helping people
decide how to plan events.
The
really fun part of building this website, was to actually
discover that I could make a good living doing something I enjoy.
Being my own boss, working my own schedule, working from any location
I want, and making a good income, just seemed too good to be
true.
I
spent over twenty years working long hours, for
large corporations. I worked hard at doing my job well, moving
up the
corporate ladder, meeting deadlines, etc., etc., etc... During that
time, the company I was working for sold three times. I actually sat
at the same desk, doing the same job, working with the same people,
and worked for four different corporations.
There were countless layoffs and rumors
of layoffs as a result of those corporate buy-outs, and fluctuations in
the economy. If you have worked in that type environment,
you know how stressful it can be. The sword of, "will I be on the next
RIF (Reduction In Force) list?", hung over everyone's head
constantly.
One of those corporate
take-overs resulted in the loss of most
of my retirement savings. At that point, I realized I need to put back
a few
dollars for my old age. But, what I really need is a source of income
that I control. I have become
quite accustomed to food with my meals over the years. And, I also
enjoy
doing some fun things, like the parties I mentioned earlier.
At that point, I decided
that retirement was redefined as “job change”. For me, retirement is
owning a business that is fun and low stress.
My initial expectation was that the income would also be lower. After
all, I had
learned to equate stress level with income level over the years. The
big surprise was yet to come.
I wanted to own a business I could
operate regardless of my physical condition or age. That pretty much
eliminated things like
building rock retaining walls, or professional rodeo. I need a good
paying
business, with flexible hours, that is not labor intensive. I have
learned that you can work hard, or you
can work smart. Working smart is much more enjoyable.
I
didn't have a large amount of money to risk purchasing a business, so
spending several hundred thousand dollars on a brick-and-mortar
business
was pretty much out of the question. Actually, I wanted to keep my
financial risk in the three digit category (under one thousand dollars)
and still find something
with a good possibility of success.
I read a few articles about building an
Internet business and found it to be a very interesting business to get
into. But I
didn't know the first thing about building web
pages, or how you actually make money on the internet. I
looked at several options to get training and found there is a
great deal of expensive traing that really doesn't teach much. Also, I
am a hands-on type person. What I needed was a class I could take while
I build my E-business. I wanted to learn about a phase, then do it.
Learn about the next phase, then do it, and so on.
I was excited when I found a free, ten step video class in building an
E-business. They call it a ten day plan. You could work
through it in ten days I suppose. But I prefer to say it is "ten steps"
because some of the "days" were a week for me. It is self paced, so you
can stop and work through a concept, or back up and repeat as
much as you need. It worked fantastic for me, because I need to work
things slowly, with lots of repetition. I still go back and
watch some of the classes from time to time. The smarter folks are the
ones who get it the first time, and finish the course in ten days or
less.
The ten step course is just the tip of the iceberg
of information and training these folks offer. One of the best E-books
I have read about Internet business is the Affiliat Masters Course. This is a
fantastic Internet business concept, and the book is very easy to read.
Oh yes, it is free as well.
Another of my favorites is the Work-at-home-mom course. It
provides a great deal of information for mom's who are considering
building a work at home business. Yep, it is free too.
I spent a couple
weeks going through what they had to offer for free. It was valuable
information and I gained a lot of basic insight into Internet
business. It isn't a get-rich-quick scheme. It
is a no non-sense, real business that you build into a good consistent
income. Most of the get-rich-quick "opportunities" are simply
opportunities to fatten someone elses wallet.
Their
philosophy is, if they can make you successful, you will be a long
term customer. So they provide training, reference material, tools,
forums, and technical assistance, all with the goal of making you a
successful Internet business owner. I did all the due
diligence, and double checked the
cost of every plan I could find and I am convinced that Site Build
It!(SBI) offers the very best deal in the market. SBI
is a webhost, mentor, support community that will make you successful
in your Internet business.
All
the other services I checked offer a few tools, and a little training,
then they charge extra for everything you add after that. The Site
Build It! package is
very affordable, and provides everything needed to build a viable
Internet business. There are no extras needed. All the
training, tools,
information, and support come with the purchase of the Internet
service. There are no hidden extras.
By
the way, my Internet business became a self-supporting, profitable
enterprise long before I hit that thousand dollar maximum investment
I mentioned earlier. I
decided what I wanted to do, wrote down a plan of how to do it, broke
the plan into phases, and put deadline dates on those phases. Now I
have two websites that I thoroughtly enjoy building and
maintaining.
Nothing takes the place of persistence. It does
require some work, but you can do it. I am not a genius, I simply
followed the simple plan and kept building web pages. Pretty soon
things
started coming
together. I was so excited when that first check came. There is just
something special about building your own successful business. I hope
you will try it, for your own sense of accomplishment, and security.
If
you are thinking of an Internet business, whether it is as a new career
or to fund your
retirement, let me suggest that you seriously consider
Site Build It!.
Here are a few
links to some of the training I was
talking about, just to give you an introduction. There are a great deal
more resources available, so this is just a sampling. Just for
fun, there is a pretty cool
movie by a family who has used SBI
to build their family business.
A complete library of Free E-Books

and choose, or download them all. There is no obligation. They don't
even ask your name.
The Ten Day Training Course
