An Army Theme Party will be fun for boys of all
ages. The main
difference between an army party for little boys, and one for big
boys is the games they play. Here are some simple steps to put
on a fun army theme birthday party. Girls are welcome at
an rmy
theme birthday party too.
Decorations
For decorations use boxes to make bunkers, walls and watchtowers.
For barbed wire, use dark colored yarn. For the barbs, use masking
tape folded over the yarn, with the sticky sides together. Cut the
doubled tape to look like pointed barbs. Toy Action Figures make fun
centerpieces as well.
Use toy soldiers, military equipment, and action
figures for cake
decorations. Make cookies in the shape of guns, soldiers,
hand-grenades, helmets, bayonets, etc.
Food
What is an army theme party without military food. Many military
type stores and camping supply stores have MREs (Meal Ready to Eat), or
you can make your own
using things from the grocery store. To build a MRE, get food that
can be eaten straight from the container. Lunchables, and juice boxes
make fantastic MRE's. Wrap your home made MRE in dark paper, or a
brown paper bag and tape it tightly, so it looks like a MRE than a
Lunchable and a juice box.
Activities
Do low-crawl races
Have a grenade throwing contest, using
water-balloons for grenades
Have a tug-of-war. Be very careful
that no one wraps the rope around fingers, arms, neck, or other body
parts. Children should be returned to their parents with all parts
intact.
For a much more adventurous and exciting
activity, fill a couple tubs with water balloons,
choose up
sides and
play war games. For heavy artillary, get a water balloon launcher, at the
water balloon battle store. Be
sure no-one decides to launch anything more solid than a water
baloon.
The bigger kids will really enjoy paint-ball,
or
laser tag.
