Party
Icebreaker Activities.
Icebreaker activities are a great way to get
people
moving,
thinking and interacting. Activities are also a great means of
introduction. Remember to consider how active members of your group
will be and how much space you will need for the activities.
The Living Statue
Divide your guests into groups of 3-5
people. Give each group a roll of toilet paper. One person strikes a
pose, an the remaining people in the group wrap the person with
toilet paper, forming a statue. Add cardboard, balloons, or other
props to put under the wrapping and build a creative statue.
Participants can vote on which "statue" is the most
creative.
Adventurous
Adjectives is a quick and easy icebreaker, for a group of
any size.
Have each person choose an adjective that begins with the
first letter of their first name. Then have each person introduce
themselves using the adjective. For example, “I am Boisterous
Bob. I tend to speak loudly, and I enjoy meeting people.”
The
Dream vacation is another quick and easy icebreaker.
Ask participants to introduce themselves and describe details of the
ideal, perfect dream vacation.
Gotchya
is one of the really fun icebreaker activities. It challanges
everyone's coordination, and it is really fun. Everyone will want to do
this one several times.
Have everyone stand in a circle, arms out to the side. Left
hand palm up, right index finger pointing down and touching their
neighbor's outstretched palm. The leader then says, "When I
say the word go,
do two things.... grab the finger in your left hand, and prevent your
right finger from being grabbed... 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... [pause and add
suspense] ... Go!".
Autograph
Bingo. This is a good icebreaker for a
group of 20 or more people. It will get people talking and mixing with
the
group.
The
Progressive Story Icebreaker is a good icebreaker for a
creative group of 3 or more people age 10 to 100.
The
Invisible Object Icebreaker will be popular with younger,
creative groups of 4 or more.
The
Human Knot is a good icebreaker for 7 or more people, in a
large room, or outdoors.
The Bean
Bag
toss is much different than you might imagine. It is a good
icebreaker for 5 or more people.
